V FIGURINES, PART 3

The starting point for the experiment V Figurines, led by choreographer Julie Schmidt Andreasen, is a desire to work with a female ensemble and explore the qualities that lie within it. After meeting and visiting the artist Marit Benthe Norheim, Julie Schmidt Andreasen was inspired to create choreography that relates to Norheim’s work Life-boats, and more specifically the sculpture boat “My ship is loaded with longing” – the young on the way.

V Figurines consists of exploring choreographic methods in an attempt to create a common identity for an ensemble of women from different backgrounds, nationalities and more.

The project has already been on the floor twice, first in November 2015 in Dansehallerne and then in April 2016 here at Forsøgsstationen. Report and other information about this can be found here. Now the survey continues with a special focus on audience relations and involvement in December 2016.

In 2017, the goal is to create the choreography to showcase the piece independently in museums and galleries, as well as touring the piece with the Life-boats installation.
