A shared relief

The three dancers Paulina, Roula and Maxime, take a closer look at techniques of relief.
From different angles, all three worked with the concept of ‘releasing tension’ ; through music and vibrations, through touch and senses and through the expression of anger. How do techniques of relief, the feeling of reassurance and relaxation following release from an intense feeling or state, affect their way of dancing and their way of choreographing? Is it a starting point or an end in itself? Inspired by the dancer Chrysa Parkinson’s self-interview on Practice, they distinguish practice and performance. They research the translation from practice to performance in a participatory way. By involving an audience, they are figuring out what roles the performer and the audience take and what their subsequent experiences are.
This research is informed by their background in the field of Dance and Participation in Copenhagen.
