On/Crying – The Gravity of tears
Our experiment explores the act of crying itself.
We want to develop choreographic ideas and a sketch for an installation that invites you to spend time in the landscape of crying in a collective crying space – with everything that lies before, inside and after crying.
What would a world look like that wholeheartedly indulges in tears and embraces crying together?
How does it affect our perception of each other and our surroundings if we allow ourselves to sense and cry with each other?
We are biologically programmed to cry and respond to crying.
Although crying is our most basic form of communication, most of us unlearn how to cry in the presence of others and crying becomes one of our most private acts.
In the attempt, we fantasize: What if crying was more social and essential in creating interpersonal connections?
