“THE ACTOR AND THE ÜBER-PUPPET”

For the 15/16 season, Øyvind Kirchhoff of the Research Station is in charge of the main experiment “Open exploration of the actor and the über-puppet”.
It is a study of the theatrical expression of the actor and the puppet theatre and the fusion of both forms into a new theatrical expression.

The experiment is inspired by Gordon Craig’s (1872-1966) thoughts and ideas on the “über-marionette”, Etienne Decroux’s mime technique “le mime corporel dramatique”, Jacques Copeau’s mask work and Polish director Tadeusz Kantor’s work with puppets and actors together on stage.

The experimental team consists of Øyvind Kirchhoff, Rolf Søborg Hansen, Malte Claudio Lind, Svend. E. Kristensen and Poul Storm.

Øyvind Kirchhoff is an actor and artistic director of Forsøgsstationen. He trained at the Ecole Internationale de Mimodrame de Paris Marcel Marceau 1985-1988 and continued his training at the Ecole de Mime Corporel Dramatique de Paris 1990-1992.
He has taught martial arts, mime and mask work for 20 years at the Danish School of Performing Arts to promote the actor’s creativity and awareness of the physical and psychological presence on stage.
