Editorial Reviews
The Hellenic Centre of the International Theatre Institute offers a second substantial reference issue to those interested in studying the Ancient Greek Theatre. The first, issue 4-5, was dedicated to the endeavours of interpreting ancient Greek drama in theatrical places throughout the world. Its rich illustrations have been a valuable help to all those engaged in staging classical drama in a modern way.
This issue, No 7, presents only 31 ancient Greek theatres out of the forty odd ones which have been excavated or located in the area of today's Greece. A complimentary issue of “Thespis” including those ancient theatres not appearing in this publication has been projected by the Editorial Committee.
The Administrative Committee of the Hellenic Centre of the ITI wish to thank the Ministry of Culture and Sciences for covering the expenses of this issue, the Ministry's General Direction of Archaeology for their valuable assistance and the Ephors of Archaeology concerned for their willingness to collaborate in this publication.
