The Sound of Things and Set Design
Inspired by the theory of evolution, we speculate about the past and the future. What might things have looked like if we had evolved in a completely different way? If we hadn’t looked the way we do today, what might we have looked like? What will our bodies look like in the future, when the conditions for life on Earth might be completely different? With this theme in mind, we will create a musical dance performance for children ages 6–10.
Through our experiment, we aim to explore a sonic universe created using self-invented instruments, built from objects found in nature—both nature’s own materials and those that we humans have left behind in nature. We will bring these materials into a performance space and create recordings, music, and soundscapes by interacting with them and exploring their potential as a form of scenographic expression.
