The Dig

Our Forsog will be the first of three research and development residencies lasting a total of six weeks and taking place in Copenhagen, Stockholm, and Helsinki. The project builds upon Madeleine and Aleksandra’s previous site-specific work, “City Layers” (which premiered in August 2024 at the KIN Festival, Sydhavn Teater).
“The Dig” is an investigation into places undergoing rapid transformations in cities, such as construction sites. We aim to visualize the ecological processes of gentrification taking place there. We will conduct site-specific artistic research in each city to create site-adaptive movement material and performance scores that capture a uniquely Nordic process of urbanization and encourage audiences to think critically about its potentially harmful ecological and social effects.
