Through demonstrations and hands-on exercises, we will explore how to use puppets to best connect with fellow performers, the audience, and the camera.

We work with “Muppet”-style puppets (as you know them from *The Muppet Show*), where the puppeteer is hidden and the puppets take center stage and dominate the frame.

The puppets talk and interact with each other and physical objects, so we’ll be working on voices, movements, lip-syncing, and eye focus.

Bring your own dolls (if they don’t have movable mouths, they’re mute!)

Then we’ll set up the camera, monitor, and projector, and together we can try out the different techniques while we play around and improvise short sketches.

Thomas Roos:

For 20 years, I have worked in various areas of the television and film industry, including the last 16 years as well

as a puppeteer. This has contributed to a broad understanding and experience within the various

departments, as well as a budding sense of inspiration and a desire to create on one’s own.

In 2009, I attended a master class with Kevin Clash, who plays Elmo on the American TV show Ses-

Ame Street. Since then, I have had a great passion for the art of puppetry, and this has resulted in many

roles in various TV and advertising productions, including: Elmo from Sesame Street, Radio Karen, The Ramajets, Sprinter Galore, Rod i Historien, Kohberg Bread, Trumle and Læs med Orm, Rose Kylling, and IKEA Fabla Bjorn

Martin Sælan:

Architect, designer, and set designer with a special expertise in and passion for puppets and puppet theater.

Since 2007, he has run his own design studio and workshop, focusing on spatial narratives

through set design for TV, the web, and events. At the same time, I have built a career as a puppeteer, puppet maker, and animatronics designer for TV productions, films, and VFX.

Has worked, among other things, as a puppeteer on *Gepetto News*, *Elmo*, *The Ramajets*, *Kohberg Bread*, *Bertil and the Belt Bag*, *The Elves*, *Lego*, *Lamb*, etc.
