Everyone is welcome!
Annemarie Jeppesen writes with a rare clarity: sober and observant, yet also with humor, tenderness, and self-revealing precision. Even when her illness is at its worst, she consciously works to transform her experiences into universal literature. *Terminal* is Annemarie Jeppesen’s fiction debut. The book is illustrated by her friend, author and illustrator Hanne Kvist. Editor: Kristian Himmelstrup. Annemarie Jeppesen was a director, playwright, actress, and puppeteer, and worked as an artist for many years in the children’s and youth theater community. Excerpt from an obituary in Teateravisen (https://teateravisen.dk/annemarie-jeppesen-er-doed/): “In 2008, together with her husband, puppeteer, puppet maker, and actor Bjarne Kalhøj, she founded Teatret Værk, which, based in southern Funen, has toured both domestically and internationally with its own productions—most recently *The Tinderbox—Freely Adapted* —in which Kirsten Dahl noted in her review that such experiences “remind us that theater is an arena for magic and poetry” —just as Værk has co-produced performances with theaters such as Carte Blanche (“In the Shadow of the Paper Tree,” 2012); ZeBU (“The Land Below,” 2011); Det Olske Orkester (“The Fox Is Out There,” 2017), and Teater Refleksion (“SMACK!”, 2013).”

*Terminal* is a powerful and unsentimental collection of poems about becoming seriously ill and being given a terminal diagnosis. From the first suspicion and the diagnosis, the poems trace the course of cancer through examinations, treatments, fear, and hope—all the way to the final poem, whispered through an oxygen mask. “It’s buzzing in my bones. It hurts. A crime has been committed in the cathedrals. The little children no longer want to sleep in there.”
