TRY ‘THE RACE TO ZERO’

– an artistic attempt on the financial markets

Kristian Husted has been working on ‘The Race to Zero’ experiment since 2014. The third experimental period at the The Lab station is underway d. October 1 to 5, 2016.

Overall, the experiment is about what language the experts – programmers and traders – use about the financial transactions and infrastructures (the HFT architecture itself)? What happens if we try to spatialize these ideas and concepts – physically, bodily, spatially? It is thus an attempt to acquire a stage language of financial markets.

The experiment is based on the observation that the public debate in Denmark on financial markets is characterized by myths and unclear perceptions. There is usually broad agreement that the ‘market’ is important, not least for growth. There is also widespread agreement that there is little we can do about it and that we have to respond to the ‘market’. But who or what is the “market”? This is what ‘The Race to Zero’ will investigate.

In this third and final part of the experiment, the team will explore the relationship between text, body and movement.
