** Friday bar

The experimental station has chosen to test the Friday bar format as another space where we can exchange professional and human experiences. The first Friday Bar was held on Friday 1 November from 4-6pm and was a great start to a new tradition. It will not be a weekly event, but we are considering what cadence is needed. Keep an eye on the newsletter, facebook and website where we will announce upcoming dates soon.

Workshop “The Being of Doing”
————————————————————
Photos: Helle Thun
In October, the Experimental Station hosted a 3-day workshop with the Institute for Performing Arts (http://www.institutetforscenkonst.com/) that gave a really nice introduction to their work. a work that has grown out of a long, dedicated performing arts practice. Work is underway to bring the Institute back to the Experiment Station over the next year for a deeper dive into their particular approach. /RR

Below is a description from the Danish OutlawFields (https://www.facebook.com/OutlawFields-Nina-Hansen-171864136158810/) which is the Institute’s contact in Denmark:

Participants gained insight into the Institute’s precise laboratory work that is directed at the core of the actor’s creative process. It is an avenue for developing the actor’s own dramaturgy and is relevant and useful for all kinds of performers including singers and musicians. It is an entry point to a personal practice based on general principles of improvisation as a working method.
/Nina Hansen & Helle Thun, OutlawFields
Excerpts of participants’ words about the work:
“Great enthusiasm! – Huge desire to learn more of this work, explore the field more and learn more from the two instructors.”

“The workshop acted as an introduction to a (new) conceptual framework for physical actions on stage. Very inspiring and useful.”

“A sense of life and flexibility and of a greater centredness. To be able to choose to move from different inner states in a flexible way”

Upcoming activities

** Birthday news
————————————————————
We have received good publicity in Teateravisen in connection with the party – where Carsten Jensen among other things refers to an article from when the old cinema became Forsøgsstationen! Read along here (http://www.teateravisen.dk/forsoegsstationen-fylder-ti-aar.html) if you fancy a little nostalgia trip! Right is a photo taken in 2009 by Carsten Jensen.

We also have some more current updates on the programme for the party on 7 December. More concrete information about the surprise appearance has been released and we have a little bit of what you can expect from our live band Tuesday Night Brass Band.

We are very much looking forward to this day and what it symbolises – 10 years of an entire house dedicated to artistic endeavours in all their forms. We hope to see you! Link to invitation here (https://www.forsoegsstationen.dk/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/FS10invitation.pdf) .

** Surprise feature:
————————————————————
We are proud to present actor and lecturer Peter Larsen, who will grace us with some well-chosen words at the reception (where we will serve homemade cake and bubbles from 4pm).

** DJAAAZZ:
————————————————————
Tuesday Night Brass Band has the spirit and wildness that we so appreciate in experimentation, in the arts, and in life more broadly! Tuesday Night Brass Band has, among other things, completed a 10-hour tour of Denmark, where in 2018 they ‘hit’ 10 cities around Denmark. Watch on their youtube channel by clicking on the link in the photo below. We are so looking forward to their VIBES!

** Nadine George workshop
————————————————————
Photo: Øyvind Kirchhoff
We are delighted to once again offer a 6-day intensive workshop with internationally renowned voice teacher Nadine George. This season she will be coming in week 20 – from 11 May to 16 May 2020. Read more about the workshop, conditions and price via this link (https://www.forsoegsstationen.dk/workshop/nadine-george-2020/) .

The workshop is very popular and usually fills up quite quickly.

For questions contact Rikke Rod at pr@forsoegsstationen.dk or by phone during office hours 9-13 Tuesday to Friday at 38793828.

** Reading
————————————————————
Member of the Experimental Station Rasmus Pold will host the event on Saturday 30 November at 17:00. The event consists of a reading of a new play followed by a dialogue with the actors and scriptwriter. Admission is free.
Script: Rasmus Pold
Actors: Karin Michelsen, Jørn Holstein, Andreas Sylvan, Nessie Biek and Rasmus Pold.

** PLATFORM
————————————————————
Photo: Jesper Haller from Annika Kompart’s experiment Speech(less)
On Friday 13 December from 17-21, we will hold the biannual platform where the ‘experiments’ will share their experiences with each other and with the other participants. It is not only for those who are currently participating in a given season but also for others – artists and art lovers – members and non-members.

It is only a criterion that you want to engage in artistic conversations and be curious about what emerges when late artists venture into the unknown. For interested parties, please contact Lotte Faarup at lotte@forsoegsstationen.dk.

Read more about the programme here (https://www.forsoegsstationen.dk/2019/11/19/platform-fredag-den-13-12/) .

Current membership attempts
————————————————————

It is always possible to read about ongoing or previous trials via the database (http://www.forsoegsstationen.dk/databasen/) or under trials (http://www.forsoegsstationen.dk/forsoeg/) on the website, where you can also download trial reports and read the trial team’s intention reports – i.e. the trial team’s presentation of the trial itself. Members can apply for time and sparring on trials – see how here (http://forsoegsstationen.us8.list-manage.com/track/click?u=7e4ab507ee0681aacca9cd6c7&id=ee294188b7&e=7b9b825c44) . Views may not always make it into the newsletter, so keep an eye on our facebook page (http://forsoegsstationen.us8.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=7e4ab507ee0681aacca9cd6c7&id=3ce7a29bec&e=7b9b825c44) and the website if you are particularly interested in experiencing the artistic research processes up close…

** Gestures
————————————————————
Photo: Henriette Groth

The GESTURES experiment aims to explore how, through our formal language of dance and music, we can work with, relate to, use, translate, record and understand processes observed in geological processes and in other aspects of natural phenomena.
In November 2019, Ellen Kilsgaard and Henriette Groth will begin this work at the Experimental Station, where the theatre collective “Str Maja (http://strmaja.dk/) ” will participate as test rabbits. There will be a screening on Friday 22 November at 3pm in the Wittmaack Room.

Read more about the trial here (https://www.forsoegsstationen.dk/forsoeg/gestures/) .

** The Laughing Game
————————————————————

Photo: Jan Vesala
The experiment “The Laughing Game” by Antoinette Helbing is based on the phenomenon of laughter. She uses already generated material from research on this in an exploration of how the many forms of value of laughter can be conveyed through a dancer in a solo.

Read more about the trial here (https://www.forsoegsstationen.dk/forsoeg/the-laughing-game/) .

** Silence, Pause, Audience recollections
————————————————————
Photo: still from film by Helle Lyshøj 2017

The seasonal experiment “Silence, Pause, Audience Memories” is in full preparation. Øyvind Kirchhoff recruits choir participants, and Peter Bruun composes. We are looking forward to stepping into the experimental space again with a bunch of curious and wonderful people in early 2020! The result of the work can be experienced in connection with CPH STAGE 2020, as was the case with LYDEN AF PUBLIKUM.

Read more here (https://www.forsoegsstationen.dk/forsoeg/stilhed-pause-publikumserindringer/) .

** Actor’s vibrations
————————————————————
The experiment “The actor’s vibrations” builds on the Olske Orchester’s recent experiment “The actor as shaman” on transformation and presence. In this attempt, the actor’s body and voice and habits are challenged to an extreme degree, in order to amplify the vibrations of the players. The hypothesis is that the vibrations can then propagate in the audience in an all-encompassing way.

We would like to encourage members to use this unique network (which many already do – not least via the facebook group “Forsøgsstationen intern” (https://www.facebook.com/groups/944010352410912/) ) – both in the form of invitations to screenings of trials or rehearsals, but of course also when it is time to play a performance.
