Members’ meeting at the Experimental Station<\/span><\/p>\n

The Experimental Station holds its first membership meeting of the season.
\nHow do you use the Experimental Station? As members, what do you think we can do even better at the Experimental Station? Is there interest among our members for the Experimental Station to become a more inclusive place?<\/p>\n

The meeting will take place on Friday 11 December 2015 from 16.00-18.00<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

We hope for a large attendance, so we can talk together about needs, ideas and common possibilities at the Experimental Station.

The initiators of the meeting are the two artistic directors of the Experimental Station,

Christmas lunch at the research station<\/span><\/p>\n

The Experimental Station is holding a Christmas party for members, groups in the house, the board and friends on Friday 11 December 2015 from 19.00-02.00<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

It is a get-together where everyone is invited to bring a delicious dish.
\nWhen registering, write what you intend to bring.
\nThe experimental station will provide beer, wine and water – but please bring some extra drinks yourself.
\nFestive elements such as snap songs, magic tricks or other are more than welcome!<\/p>\n

Voice training workshop with Nadine George<\/span><\/p>\n

There will be a voice training workshop with Nadine George on 22-27 February 2016<\/strong>.
\nThe workshop includes breathing exercises and voice warm-up, both in groups and individually. After the warm-up, the individual voice work begins. The vocal exercises go straight into working with a text by Shakespeare. The text will be sent to you when you register for the workshop, and you should memorise it before the course starts.<\/p>\n

Nadine George is an internationally recognised voice teacher with over 30 years of teaching experience. She originally trained as an actress at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London, UK. She has developed her own voice technique after 15 years of teaching and working for actor and voice teacher, Roy Hart. It is a technique that is becoming increasingly common among professional actors, directors and speech teachers, including in England, France, Sweden, Denmark, the Faroe Islands, Norway and Iceland. She has taught at Statens Scenekunstskole in Copenhagen, Skuespiluddannelsen in Odense and Lule\u00e5s Teaterskole in Sweden.
\nNadine George received an honorary doctorate in drama from The Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow in July 2008. For more information see: www.voicestudiointernational.com<\/p>\n

Voice training<\/span><\/p>\n

Wednesday 09.15-10.45<\/strong> with Angelina Watson.<\/p>\n

The regular weekly voice lessons take place in Boulevarden and are free for all members!
\nIf you want to take part, send a text message to 20 15 09 49 by 21.00 the evening before.<\/p>\n

Based on Nadine George’s voice training, we work with breath and focus, as well as exploring the voice in masculine and feminine expression – in forte and piano and everything in between. We are working to find out what it means to vibrate and to vibrate with your audience. We work partly with the piano and partly with texts written by Shakespeare.
\nThe training is aimed at all performing artists, regardless of level, and you are welcome even if you are unable to attend at times.
\nThe voice training is free for all members of the Experimental Station.<\/p>\n

Regular training group Daily Dance autumn 2015<\/span><\/p>\n

Daily Dance is a training\/resource group for training and exchange in the field of improvised dance.<\/p>\n

The group writes:
\nWe explore a choreographic practice where thought is made visible and where the whole intelligent body is ready, receptive and active at the same time.<\/p>\n

Anu and Ellen offer warm-up exercises and lead the day sessions. If they wish, members of the group are also invited to provide their own warm-up or to propose the day’s programme.<\/p>\n

The group will study and practice movement scores for duets as well as choreographic work for small and large groups, working with different perspectives on listening, articulating form and connecting through the physicality of dance.<\/p>\n

To ensure continuity in its work, the group meets once a week.<\/p>\n

Participants are: Anu Rajala-Erkut, Ellen Kilsgaard, Birgitte Lundtoft, S\u00f8ren Linding, Urup Fie Mygind and Rosa Isaldur (on maternity leave).<\/p>\n

Upcoming trials: SECOND SKIN EXPERIMENT<\/span><\/p>\n

Anette Asp Christensen is in charge of the SECOND SKIN EXPERIMENT in November 2015.
\nThe experiment is based on the idea of the doll as a second skin.<\/p>\n

She writes about the experiment: ‘Using body fragments based on casts of our own and each other’s bodies, we explore the transition and encounter between doll and human.
\nIt is a play with body and doll and the relationship between the two: The relationship, tension and physical interaction between the living performer and the “dead” body parts.
\nWe will work on the very basic questions: What is a puppet and how and when does it emerge? What can the doll tell us about being human? What themes, as well as physical and visual expressions and narratives emerge? What makes this doll come alive? How does it reflect our existence?”<\/p>\n

Anette Asp Christensen is, in addition to being the experimental leader, also a dancer, puppeteer\/maker, Katrine Nilsen is a set designer and puppeteer, Ingrid Tranum Velasquez is a dancer and puppeteer, Stine Q. Pagh is actor and puppeteer, and Jette Lund is dramaturgical consultant.<\/p>\n

The public is invited to a screening of the experimental work and a dialogue on the potential of the work on Friday 22 January 2016<\/strong>.
\nThe date will be announced later on the Experimental Station website and in the next newsletter.<\/p>\n

Upcoming trials: STORY PLAY by The Narrative Theatre<\/span><\/p>\n

The STORY PLAY experiment is about the development of oral narratives as performing arts expressions in a non-competitive context. It draws on the experience of audiences in different age groups.<\/p>\n

Jesper La Cour writes about his attempt:
\n“An audience with a diverse age range can be a particularly open space in which to develop oral narratives. It is as if an expanded bond of experience emerges, enabling a connection to shared human depths of joy and insight for those present in a particularly nuanced way. The working groups will optimally consist of one child (11-12 years), one young person (13-22 years), one adult (23-60 years, performing artist) and one elderly person (60+), but variations may occur due to the composition of the group. In this experiment, each participant must have prepared a story of 9-12 min. (it can be part of a longer story) that they want to work with. During the process, participants will have the opportunity to be interviewed about the trial. The working method is described and explored with examples, games, exercises, tasks and performances.”<\/p>\n

The trial will start in November 2015 and continue with two more workshops until February 2016.
\nThere will be an open screening of the experiment on 25 February 2016 at 17.00<\/strong>, where it will be possible to experience the oral narratives developed in the experiment.<\/p>\n

Upcoming display:<\/span><\/p>\n

Livingstone’s Cabinet invites you on Thursday 17 December 2015 at 7pm<\/strong> to an open screening with practical examples on the floor and an artist talk based on the experimental work entitled RPG (Random Performance Game).
\nThe group has worked with the following questions: can a hands-on board game\/card game be developed that can be used as a structuring and inspirational tool in a performing arts creation process?<\/p>\n

Livingstone’s Cabinet has been working with RPG “on the floor” for a trial period.
\nThe result of the experiment is documented in this open view.<\/p>\n
