** Turin in October

THE SOUND OF THE PUBLIC has received international attention and we have been invited to re-enact the work in Italy in autumn 2018 with Italian students and elders in the context of a major conference at the University of Turin where there is a centre researching community theatre. This has just been finalised after the Danish Arts Foundation accepted our application for funding for the tour. We are of course very happy about this and look forward to sharing the experience with the world! We have therefore once again secured an agreement with documentary filmmaker Helle Lysh\u00f8j, who is also behind the films of the first version of THE SOUND OF THE PUBLIC.<\/p>\n

\nThe experimental station is proud to present the experimental report based on the experiment LYDEN AF PUBLIKUM, a project we have mentioned many times here in the newsletter, which in short was about local volunteers and artists coming together for an ambitious project – to create a choral work based on audience sounds. The work was performed in 2017 during CPH Stage both here at Fors\u00f8gsstationen and at the Royal Theatre.<\/p>\n

The report is written by Lotte Faarup and \u00d8yvind Kirchhoff, the artistic directors of Fors\u00f8gsstationen, and is also available in a digital version via www.forsoegsstationen.dk\/referencerLAP\/.

\nOpen audition for Nadine George workshop
\n————————————————————<\/p>\n

\nIn connection with the annual workshop with Nadine George (http:\/\/www.forsoegsstationen.dk\/workshop\/nadine-george-workshop-2018\/) we held the usual “open rehearsal” on the side day. Here, a small group of interested people had the opportunity to see how Nadine works. This year the group had worked on “Grief Dresses Elektra” by Eugene O’Neil. And we saw many different takes on key scenes from this work in open rehearsal. In the last few years, Nadine has chosen to work with dialogue (as opposed to working with monologues in the past), which among other things allows the players to challenge habits in relational work on stage.<\/p>\n

Many thanks to Nadine George who has chosen to dedicate her life to this little niche, and for generously sharing her accumulated knowledge about the undiscovered potentials of human beings and how to unlock them.

** CPH Stage 2018 – open house at the Experimental Station
\n————————————————————<\/p>\n

This year we tried a new initiative: holding an open house in connection with CPH Stage and it was a success! We will organise similar events again. We were visited by many different people during the week of Monday 4 June to Friday 8 June where we could offer Gaga dancing, ‘nap room’ and free coffee and croissants to name some of the things that happened during the week.<\/p>\n

And we had wonderful volunteers in the house all week making soup, coffee and ‘mingling’. Thanks to members of the Experimental Station, our ‘old’ choir from LYDEN AF PUBLIKUM and friends of the house who lent a hand!<\/p>\n

Our intern Ad\u00e8le Ja made an installation in Truffaut called “I let go” based on research in health promotion and performance design. Watch her introductory video here (https:\/\/youtu.be\/GM0-CtQP704) or by clicking on the image below.<\/p>\n

** Platform on 15 June
\n————————————————————<\/p>\n

On Friday 15 June, the Experimental Station held its biannual platform.<\/p>\n

For those unfamiliar with the concept, the platform is an artistic exchange of experience in word and practice between experimental projects held at the Experimental Station over the past six months. It is an afternoon and evening where we both exchange in small groups to get to the heart of each individual’s experimental work, and then in a common plenary seek to talk about trends and bigger lines.<\/p>\n

We also had an artist talk with Teater Patrasket where they talked about their new show “Pinnochio” directed by Alex Byrne, and where we got to try out one of their techniques for the exploratory phase of the work. Finally, before we had soup together, our intern, and graduate in Performance Design, Ad\u00e8le Ja gave a presentation on her thesis; Health Promotion and Performance Design, based on the installation she made during this year’s CPH Stage here with us. The platform event is primarily dedicated to the trial actors involved, but interested parties are welcome to register. You can stay informed via facebook, website or newsletter. The next Platform event will be on Friday 14 December 2018 from 17-21.<\/p>\n

The experimental station will be closed from 1 July to 31 July 2018.<\/p>\n

We wish everyone a happy holiday and look forward to opening our doors again on 1 August for a new season of exciting trials and other goodies.<\/p>\n

** Training in the new season – more open offers

\nWe always have training for members of the Experimental Station, but in the coming season we have added more training sessions that are also open (though not free) to non-members:<\/p>\n

** GAGA people
\n————————————————————
\nIt was a great success with Gaga people during CPH Stage, where Siri Wolthoorn taught every morning, and we are very happy to announce that she is back with regular weekly trainings in the new season. For those who haven’t seen it, there was a great article in Politiken’s IBYEN in connection with CPH Stage (link (http:\/\/www.e-pages.dk\/politikenannoncer\/2138350776\/8) ).<\/p>\n

Gaga people is free for members of Fors\u00f8gsstationen, but non-members are also welcome for a fee of 70 kr per session.<\/p>\n

** Modern dance

\nStands&Dans is also back with two modern dance classes on Monday night. My Lindblad and Camilla Stage are the main teachers throughout the season. After sharing the ongoing process on Platform (see above), the group went back into the room to work on the attempt, to further develop the teaching format that invites young people into the world of the choreographer and dancer, where young people are an active part of the space, participating and having a say both in the teaching and in a creative work process.<\/p>\n

\nIn August-September 2018, Theatre Borderline is organising THE BIGGEST DREAM. They will investigate how the relationship between the real-plan narrative frame and the fairytale plane is emphasized in the performance ‘The Biggest Dream’ in relation to text\/language, sound and scenographic objects for the target group 9-12 years?<\/p>\n

The team behind is project manager and playwright Lise J\u00f8rgensen; actors Henriette Rosenbeck and Thomas Knuth-Winterfeldt; director Solveig Weinkouff; set designer Sisse Gerd J\u00f8rgensen and sound designer Gregers Kjar.<\/p>\n
