Seasonal trial gets under way
————————————————————

Photo: still from documentary by Lotte Faarup and Helle Lyshøj
Our seasonal experiment “Silence, Pause, Audience Recollections (https://www.forsoegsstationen.dk/forsoeg/stilhed-pause-publikumserindringer/) ” has its first choir rehearsal on Friday, March 6 at 4:30-7pm.

As there is still room for more participants, we invite those interested to come to this first choir rehearsal to see what it’s all about. There will be several returnees from our 2017 success, the SOUND OF THE PUBLIC, and they will also be able to tell you a bit about what to expect from the trip…

On 6 March, composer Peter Bruun and choirmaster Erik Jakobsson will introduce us to the newly composed work. Peter and Erik also formed the musical power-team at Lyden af Publikum, the season experiment in 2016/17, where we played at the Royal Theatre in connection with CPH STAGE (see short documentary here (https://vimeo.com/222439272) ) and were in Italy with in 2018 (link (https://youtu.be/0M-iKMPf0kU) ).

The seasonal experiment is part of a larger project that will run over the next few years with support from the BIKUBENFONDEN, among others. Read details about participation in the recruitment letter and about the trial here (https://www.forsoegsstationen.dk/forsoeg/stilhed-pause-publikumserindringer/) .

** Our new administrator is in full swing!
————————————————————

As some of you already know, we have hired Lise Aagaard Knudsen as administrator as of 1 February. Lise is already in full swing – getting to know the whole house.

Here is a short presentation of Lise:
Lise trained as an actor in London and holds a Master’s degree in Theatre & Performance Studies from the University of Copenhagen. Alongside her work at the Experimental Station, she is exploring the body’s memory in a memory system without a body – artificial intelligence. The exploration will be shown at CLICK Festival 2020 under the title memoryMechanics. She herself is a member of the Experimental Station and loves Gaga.
Lise can be contacted by email at mail@forsoegsstationen.dk or on our main number 38 79 38 28.

MARCH IS GAGA MONTH in the OLD BIOGRAPH:
————————————————————
In addition to the regular GAGA classes on Tuesdays at 8pm and Thursdays at 8:30am, there are a few extra exciting GAGA days in March. There will be film and dance on Sunday 1 March in connection with the Copenhagen Jewish Film Festival 2020 and a workshop on 14. and March 15.

** Film about Mr. GAGA and sweaty GAGA classes
————————————————————

In cooperation with Copenhagen Jewish Film Festival, a programme of GAGA dance will be presented on Sunday 1 March. Teachers are Siri Wolthoorn (DK) and Kari Vig Petersen (DK, N).

**
Description from the Festival programme:
————————————————————
Not everyone is into dancing but many, and more and more are. Around the world, Gaga dance has taken hold of underground communities, hipsters and artists, even pensioners and those who know that the body needs to be cared for and that mind and body are one. Ohad Naharin, Bat Sheva Dance Company’s long-time leader and one of the world’s most renowned choreographers, has been portrayed several times by the Heyman Brothers. The result is two terrific and very different documentaries about Gaga’s father and about Gaga dancing.
In Denmark, several professional dancers have travelled to the Gagaud School in Tel Aviv and Copenhagen can provide some of the best teachers in the world. We therefore present a unique programme of film, dance, dance and film on 1 March at the Experimental Station on Sdr Boulevard

Program looks like this:
10.00-11.20 Film Mr Gaga
11.30-12.30 teaching Gaga/people
12.30-13.50 Film Mr Gaga
14.00-15.00 teaching Gaga/people
16.00-17.00 Film Out of Focus

** The Dance Halls’ spring programme of experimental…

Photo: Rikke Rod – from platform in June 2018
The experiment “With the Body in Discovery” from 2018 has been in schools for the past few years and is now part of the Dance Halls programme with 4 weeks of performances in Pakhus 11 from 24 February to 21 March. We look forward to seeing how it has evolved since the pilot phase. The programme (https://mailchi.mp/dansehallerne/dansehallerne-sparker-kraftfuldt-forret-i-gang) is absolutely fantastic, and you can see one of my absolute favourites, the American choreographer and performer Deborah Hay. Her works The Match and The Man (https://www.dansehallerne.dk/forestilling/the-man-the-match/) have been revived with the dancers of the Cullberg Ballet. Don’t miss!

** The Laughing Game
————————————————————
In January we had the pleasure of the experiment “The Laughing Game” led by Antoinette Helbing. Here she used material already generated from research on this in an exploration of how the many forms of value of laughter can be conveyed through a dancer in a solo.

During the trial, Antoinette invited people to a daily morning training session – a warm-up for working with laughter. It gave her an opportunity to experience others working with exercises she used to explore laughter as a phenomenon, and it gave those of us who attended a glimpse into her working process and a good base for the rest of the day’s work.

The Laughing Game will be screened as part of The Submarine on 26-28 February. Read about the programme on the Bådteatret website (http://www.baadteatret.dk/a-threefold-performance-evening/) .

** Voices from Enghave Plads
————————————————————
Photo: Anna Kruse
After 8 years of metro construction and the closure of a square that is the setting for much local life in Vesterbro, Enghave Plads is alive again. Singer and composer Anna Kruse will explore how to transform interviews into poetic material for interpretation through song in her experiment “Voices from Enghave Plads”. Is it possible to develop a proper methodology?

The ambition of the project is to give voice to citizens who are connected to the square in some way; how does the drunkard, the skater, the baker or the dog walker experience the change that has happened and how has it affected their lives? And what has happened in their lives in the last 8 years – how have they been transformed?

The next platform is Friday 12 June, 5-9pm – members who have done experiments in the past six months will present their work and discoveries in some form, and can invite collaborators or other interested parties to watch. The platform is open to all members and non-members, as long as you are interested in engaging in dialogue about creative work.
