THE WINTER OF OUR DISCOURAGEMENT

Andreas Dawe began by writing and staging the play “The Winter of Our Mismad” at Husets Teater, with Dan Zahle in the role of Hitler. It premiered on 19 January 2019. Read more about the play here (http://www.husetsteater.dk/om-husets-teater/vort-mismods-vinter/) . For those who didn’t get to see the show, which played to nearly full houses, it’s going on tour later this year.

The Narrative Theatre has received support from the Danish Arts Foundation to take the STORY PLAY concept (http://storyplay.dk) a step further into the world. Right now there is a pilot project in Lejre with Stories in “mixed time” and 4 large school projects with Ar stories. Later, a larger pilot project will be carried out to qualify and scale up the concept. Can more people be trained to become STORY PLAY agents?

The Olske Orkester had its premiere yesterday! – Monday 18 March – at Ålborg Teater with the performance SALT – A theatre performance about poverty and freedom. ** THE FESTIVAL OF THE FREE FIELD
Photos: Rikke Jeppesen Rod
The Free Field Festival 2019 (https://www.detfriefeltsfestival.dk/) held the seminar “Future Perspectives” at the Experimental Station last Saturday – 16 March ´19. The programme for the day consisted of a tour and introduction to the Research Station by the undersigned (communications officer Rikke Jeppesen Rod), an introduction to the current open call (http://godsbanen.dk/open-call-aabne-scene-2020/) for Godsbanens Åbne Scene season 19/20 in Aarhus, by the daily management, Trine Sørensen and Charlotte Aaby and last but not least a presentation from the artistic management of Det Frie Felts Festival, Gritt Uldall-Jessen and Erik Pold, about this year’s festival and where they invited to a talk about the future of Det Frie Felts Festival. Many interesting questions and ideas were raised about curation, the focus of the festival, priorities and dreams for the future.
Thank you for an exciting day! At Forsøgsstationen, we are always happy to provide space for interesting conversations about the performing arts, especially when it comes to creating good conditions for the independent performing arts and their opportunities to conduct artistic research!

** CPH STAGE 2019

The programme for this year’s CPH STAGE is out and tickets for the festival can now be ordered. The experimental station will be OPEN HOUSE during the festival again this year.

A brand new format we present during CPH STAGE is SKUESPILLEREN OG ÜBERMARIONETTEN – A work demonstration in words and practice. The ambition of the experimental station is to make visible the ‘invisible’ but essential elements of creating professional performing arts, which are important to disseminate widely. Professional performing arts are an accumulation of invested time, training and persistent artistic experimentation. With this in mind, we have created this working demonstration based on a multi-year pilot project (https://www.forsoegsstationen.dk/forsoeg/hovedforsoeg-den-scenografiske-skuespiller/) of the same title. In addition to Lotte Faarup and Øyvind Kirchhoff, Bjarne Kalhøj and Rolf Søborg Hansen will participate. The event, which is in English, will take place on Friday 31 May at 17:00 – Limited number of places. Tickets are free through CPH STAGE (https://www.cphstage.dk/event/skuespilleren-og-ubermarionetten-2019-05-31-17-00/) .

** Nadine George workshop 2019
Photos: Øyvind Kirchhoff
The annual Nadine George Voice Work workshop, taught by Nadine George, will be held this season during week 18 – Monday 29 April through Saturday 4 May 2019. The workshop is aimed at all performing artists, regardless of previous experience with this work. This year we are working with classical Greek monologues from the Oresteia in English translation.
The workshop is an annual offer for performing artists, members and non-members. Nadine George’s technique is an integral part of our DNA at the Experiment Station and we offer members ongoing basic training in this work. There is thus voice training every Wednesday at 9-10:45 where you can keep your technique up to date. Read more about it here (https://www.forsoegsstationen.dk/stemmetraening/) .
You can enquire about places on the course with Nadine George by writing to email@example.com. Price and other information are available here (https://www.forsoegsstationen.dk/workshop/nadine-george-workshop-2019/) .
Current membership attempts
It is always possible to read about ongoing or previous trials via the database (http://www.forsoegsstationen.dk/databasen/) or under trials (http://www.forsoegsstationen.dk/forsoeg/) on the website, where you can also download trial reports and read the trial team’s intention reports – i.e. the trial team’s presentation of the trial itself. Members can apply for time and sparring on trials – see how here (http://forsoegsstationen.us8.list-manage.com/track/click?u=7e4ab507ee0681aacca9cd6c7&id=ee294188b7&e=7b9b825c44) . CIGAR BUM NOSE

Anette Asp Christensen / Wunderverk led in the 16/17 season an experiment entitled CIGAR BUMS NÆSE (https://www.forsoegsstationen.dk/forsoeg/cigar-bums-naese/) – a musical paper theatre experiment that took on the Dadaist playwright Tristan Tzara’s main work “Gashjertet”. Wunderverk has created a performance based on this, which will be presented at Warehouse9 during CPH STAGE 2019 (https://www.teaterbilletter.dk/forestillinger/gashjertet/) – starring Daniel Norback, Birgitte Prins and Anette Asp Christensen. Tristan Tzara’s play will be published in Danish for the first time in collaboration with Det Poetiske Bureau.

The experiment “Self” investigates the self as a physical state or starting point and what this focus does for performer, spectator, expression and movement quality. Other participants are performer and musician Kirstine Lindemann, mime and actor Glenn Ziqver Xavier and director and actor Louise Skaaning.
