Ready to go
————————————————————
We’re getting ready to send the “Sound of the Audience – Turin edition” project on the road. Recruitment is in full swing in Turin – even our landlord through AirBNB has registered as a cordon participant! If you know any ‘torinogens’ who could join us for a very special experience, please send them the link to the programme. It is completely ‘sold out’ to participate in the choral work itself, but it is still possible to come as a ‘real’ audience when we play in Teatro Vittoria on Thursday 11 October. This link (https://performance-artecomunita.eventbrite.it/) is to order a free ticket, and this link (https://www.facebook.com/events/247983729237149/) is to the Facebook event (which may be shared).

The project is supported by the Danish Arts Foundation – the international pool.

** Intern
————————————————————
We have the pleasure to have Per Flyvehavn in internship in September-October. Per is a graphic designer specialising in video/film. He has many qualities, including a good ability to spot our home blind spots at the Experiment Station. And if the name sounds familiar, he is, among other things, curator of the Film Society at the Black Horse (https://www.sortehest.com/selskaber/det-filmiske-selskab/) .

It’s good to have fresh eyes – and already new trends are emerging, including yours truly’s attempt at more advanced photoshopping. Say hello and welcome him if you should run into him in the house. By the way, there will be news on our Facebook page soon – a design from his hand.

News about the Board
This year, 2 members of the Board were up for election. President Morten Krogh and Catherine Poher. Morten continues as chairman, which we are very happy about. Due to the need to reduce activities, Catherine Poher has chosen not to stand for re-election to the Board. We are, of course, sorry about that, but with full understanding and deep respect for her priorities.
Catherine has just celebrated 40 years as a theatre person (see review in the theatre paper) so she has certainly risen to the occasion and continues to create. She has just premiered the show “Ai-Ai-Ai! (http://abendans.dk/8259-2/) ” with Aaben Dans AND a super exciting book release entitled “…And on the 8th day, they began to dream”. Read the Teateravisens preface with link to the release here (http://www.teateravisen.dk/-og-paa-den-8-dag-begyndte-de-at-droemme.html) . It’s an online book that includes video interviews with people from the industry! Catherine is also one of the speakers at the upcoming Quality Seminar (https://www.forsoegsstationen.dk/2018/08/17/kvalitetsseminar/) on 24 November.

We wish Catherine all the best in her future work!

** Visits by DIS students
————————————————————

On Friday 28 September, the Research Station was visited by a group of exchange students from the USA. The students are studying pedagogy, architecture and European history and are in Denmark via the organisation DIS (https://disabroad.org/dis/) (Danish Institute for Study Abroad).
Øyvind Kirchhoff introduced them to our house and they came ‘on the floor’ with samples of the experimental performing arts work and with voice training by Angelina Watson.

** GAGA people – NEW TIME
————————————————————
We are in full swing and have moved GAGA People from 6:30-7:30pm to 7-8pm from next week, starting Wednesday 3 October. Gaga people is free for members of Forsøgsstationen, but non-members are also welcome for a fee of 70 kr per session. Remember that it is not possible to come after the class has started. For non-members, this means that if the front door is closed, the class has started. For members that once the door to the boulevard is closed, it’s too late to join.

During the autumn holidays, there are no classes from Stands&Dans and voice training – but Siri runs GAGA both on Tuesday mornings and Wednesday evenings during that week. It takes place in the Wittmaack hall as Boulevarden is occupied.

However, there are cancellations at GAGA later in the month, on Friday 26 October from 9-10am and on Tuesday 30 October from 8:30-9:30am.
At the bottom of the newsletter is an overview of all training offers in the section “Special for members”.

** Quality seminar
————————————————————

Saturday d. On November 24, 18, Forsøgsstationen in Copenhagen will hold a seminar on the concept of quality in theatre. Inspired by the work of the quality committees in the children’s and youth environment in the 80s and 90s, and sensing a growing need in the theatre community to (re)find a qualified language around criticism, we are trying to put the quality discussion on the agenda.

The seminar has invited all members of the former Quality Committee of the Children’s Theatre Association%C3%(BTS) to benefit from their valuable experience (e.g. Catherine Poher, Bodil Alling, Gitte Kath, Simon Vagn Jensen, Peter Seligmann, Michael Ramlöse, Lene Vestergaard, Biba Schwoon and others).

We hope that as many people as possible from the children’s/youth theatre community, as well as the wider theatre community, will want to participate and get involved in this important conversation.

Read more about the event on the website (https://www.forsoegsstationen.dk/2018/08/17/kvalitetsseminar/) , or read the preview here (http://www.teateravisen.dk/seminar-om-kvalitetsarbejde-i-teatret.html) in Teateravisen.

Current membership attempts
————————————————————

It is always possible to read about ongoing or previous trials via the database (http://www.forsoegsstationen.dk/databasen/) or under trials (http://www.forsoegsstationen.dk/forsoeg/) on the website, where you can also download trial reports and read the trial team’s intention reports – i.e. the trial team’s presentation of the trial itself. Members can apply for time and sparring on trials – see how here (http://forsoegsstationen.us8.list-manage.com/track/click?u=7e4ab507ee0681aacca9cd6c7&id=ee294188b7&e=7b9b825c44) . The Actor as Shaman
————————————————————
– A study in transformation and presence

Photo: Øyvind Kirchhoff
In August 2017, the Olske Orkester began a three-year research project at the Forsøgsstationen with the aim of investigating and developing a theatrical form language based on a combination of poetic narrative and expressionist physical theatre.
Note that in the previous newsletter it was referred to with the wrong title.

Read more about the trial here (https://www.forsoegsstationen.dk/forsoeg/skuespilleren-som-shaman/) .

** Speech(less)

————————————————————
Photo: Jesper Haller
The Speech(less) experiment explores native language, rhythm, movement and meaning through a bodily translation of the spoken word. The experiment is led by choreographer Annika Kompart and will take place in September 2018.

Read more about the trial here (https://www.forsoegsstationen.dk/forsoeg/speechless/) .

IN IN
————————————————————

DANS DANS DANS is intended as a forum where independent dance artists meet, train and explore together. The experiment has been developed by Ellen Kilsgaard through several previous experimental works, with a curiosity about the development of community around her own practice as a dancer and choreographer.

Read more about the trial here (https://www.forsoegsstationen.dk/forsoeg/dans-dans-dans/) .

** From Studio to Studio
————————————————————
Photo: Ellie Gravitte, Shashwat Gupta
The experiment “From Studio to Studio” will explore the need for non-commercial training, moderated by the actors themselves. Inspired by The Actor’s Studio in New York, participants in the experiment will study self-selected scenes together, taking turns to perform, moderate and comment.

The trial is led by actor and casting specialist Andreas Lyon and will take place in September-October 2018. Professional actors and performers with a desire to develop and maintain their craft are sought for the experiment. Contact Andreas Lyon (mailto:andreaslyon@gmail.com ) for more information.

OCTOBER

** Perception in the encounter between people
————————————————————
– A performative study of appropriation in social space.

The study investigates the encounter between people, focusing on visibility and invisibility as well as challenges in bodily communication. The experiment was created in connection with the BA in Theatre and Performance Studies at the University of Copenhagen, and is led by Katrine Bøtker and Freja Forsman.

Participants are sought for the trial:
“We are looking for people who have the courage to do physical exercises on the floor and who want to reflect on their reactions and experiences in a common forum. It will take place on Thursday 1 November from 10-15. For questions or registration, write to Freja Forsman at frejaforsman@gmail.com (mailto:frejaforsman@gmail.com) ”
