The Copenhagen Experimental Station is hosting two seminars on current forms of drama.

The first is “Drama without drama”, which will take place on Friday 12 February 2016 from 13.00-17.00.

The seminar explores different text forms and non-dramatic text on stage. But when performing arts texts are not “dramatic” – what are they? Do they take radically different forms?
The seminar will include the following presentations:
“The History of Drama with an Emphasis on Cabaret Dramaturgy and New Mimesis” by Professor Knut Ove Arntzen from the Institute for Linguistic, Literary and Aesthetic Studies, University of Bergen.
Professor Knut Ove Arntzen has a residency at Forsøgsstationen, supported by the Danish Arts Council’s Project Support Committee for Performing Arts.
“The roles of the text, including current playwright positions” by PhD and Associate Professor Laura Luise Schultz at the Department of Arts and Cultural Studies, University of Copenhagen.
Ida-Elisabeth Larsen and Marie-Louise Stentebjerg from the performance group TWO-WOMEN-MACHINE-SHOW will give a presentation on the use of text and reflections on the function and role of text on stage.
Playwright Gábor Fábián from the group LIFE BOAT UNIT (Budapest, Hungary) will talk about his script for the board play about poverty in Hungary with performing arts elements, Soziopoly.
The seminar will be moderated by Mette Garfield, editor of Theatre 1.

It is organised by playwright and cand.mag. Gritt Uldall-Jessen from the Experimental Station.

She explains the background to the seminar: “It is about creating an understanding of the diversity of the performing arts and about promoting the development of the new performing arts. In this context, it is important to highlight the current forms of stage text and, in particular, to examine whether they (stage texts) require different conditions in terms of time, space and technique in order to be able to be unfolded.”

The second seminar “The Playwright’s Workshop” will take place on Thursday 14 March 2016 from 12.00 to 17.00 at the Experimental Station.
It is organised in collaboration with Dramafronten. It is a look into the workrooms of four playwrights in the Danish performing arts, Astrid Saalbach, Thomas Markmann, Joan Rang and Tomas Lagermand Lundme.
The seminar focuses on the playwright’s craft, which is in line with the overall theme of Forsøgsstation in the 15/16 season, namely the training and working method of the performing artist.
The seminar will address the following issues: What method(s) does the playwright use?

The playwrights’ presentations will be illustrated by examples from their own works.
A group of actors will perform several scenes from the playwrights’ works in reading form.
The seminar will be moderated by playwright Rhea Lehmann (Dramafronten) and playwright Gritt Uldall-Jessen (Forsøgsstationen) and will take place in Boulevarden at Forsøgsstationen. Participation is free of charge.
