Flugtlinier

Like/Not Like by Jens Bäckvall

366 videos, 366 texts and 78 pieces of music/sound
- Exhibition of the material created by Jens Bäckvall in the Foyer

In 2012, the artists Jens Bäckvall and Christian Adelhorst Rossil collaborated on the 2473652012 Open-Source Physical-Theatre Project. The project ran for 366 days, between the 1st of January and the 31st of December and for Jens, had the following dogma:

1. Keep a notebook, but through video instead of writing/drawing.
2. Create a new idea every day, throughout the whole year, no matter the workload, health-issues or location, using no more than 5 - 30 minutes for this.
3. Every idea must be filmed, uploaded to YouTube and Vimeo and be declared open-source material for anyone to use.
4. Write one short text every day, with no preparation time. Sit down, start writing, finish within 5 minutes. These texts are also open-source.
5. As often as possible, create music or sound for the video of the day, using no more than 30 minutes, preferably less. This is also open- source material.
Jens created 366 videos, 366 texts and 78 pieces of music/sound.

LIKE/NOT LIKE - YOU ARE IMPORTANT!
We are now moving into the next phase of the project, where we collect as much user-data as possible, both spontaneous and upon request. We invite you to help and join us in this next step of the project.

You can contribute in the following ways:
1. Watch videos on YouTube and rate them by clicking the LIKE or the NOT LIKE buttons. Please be spontaneous and honest.
2. Comment the videos, either through text or through videos of your own. All comments are considered open-source and may be used by us or others in creative processes. They may, however, not be used in a commercial way (Creative Commons – Share Alike license).
3. Read the texts in the leaflet by the screens. Comment or rate them.
4. Listen to the music and sounds on Soundcloud or in the videos. Feel free to use this material in any artistic projects. If you create derivatives of the material, please upload them so that others can learn from the process and use your material.
5. Create ideas of your own and share them through the internet. Hopefully we can help each other become better and more versatile artists for the good of both Danish and international artist communities.

THE FUTURE
We are asking as many people as possible to comment and Like or Not Like the videos on YouTube. In autumn of 2013, we will conduct two 2 week long explorations of the material, one using the 50 most Liked videos, and one using the 50 most Not Liked videos.
Our main goals are:
• Explore the material to see how it can be used on a stage.
• Explore the way people have commented on the videos and how they have been rated.
• Go deeper into the language and communication styles used on online fora.
• Create a performance using the material and the process, to highlight both the creativity and the communication needed to make something like this work.

What the final performance will actually be like is currently unknown to us, since we are focusing on the process at the moment. All that we know is that it will be entitle LIKE/ NOT LIKE.
Thank you for taking your time to watch, read and listen to the material as well as commenting and rating it.
